At Garden by the Sea Bed and Breakfast, going green isn’t just a buzzword; it’s a way of life. Our B&B is fully powered by over 70 solar panels, providing clean, renewable energy for electricity and hot water. Excess power we don’t use is returned to the island’s grid, helping support a more resilient St. John community. A reliable generator and battery backup ensure uninterrupted comfort even when the island loses power.
We also capture rainwater from our roof, store it in a cistern below ground, and purify it through a three-stage UV filtration system, providing safe water for showering and drinking.
Garden by the Sea is proudly nestled within a certified Audubon wildlife sanctuary — lush gardens that attract colorful birds and butterflies, offering guests a true connection with nature. Sustainability isn’t just part of our story; it’s part of your stay.

Eileen is awesome. Incredibly charming, helpful, considerate, and friendly. Her breakfast was probably our favorite meal each day. The space is fantastic. Quiet and comfortable at night, it’s also among the few stays where we could be perfectly content hanging out for days on end. Walking distance to the main drag, it’s also easy to accommodate travelers who choose not to rent a vehicle, though there is still parking is required. So long as Google is my witness, we will be back to stay again!
