Check-In
Check-in is available from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., with flexibility for earlier or later arrivals when possible. If you expect to arrive before 3:00 p.m., please let us know in advance. We’ll be happy to welcome you, store your luggage if your suite isn’t ready, and send you off to enjoy the beach or lunch in Cruz Bay while we prepare your room.

Check-out is by 10:00 a.m.

Early Check-in and Late Check-out
We are happy to accommodate early arrivals and late departures whenever possible. Please let us know your travel plans in advance, and we’ll do our best to assist based on availability.

Cancellation Policy
We understand that plans can change. If you need to cancel your reservation, please provide written notice at least 60 days before your scheduled arrival. Cancellations received 60 or more days in advance will receive a refund of 75% of your deposit. For cancellations made less than 60 days before arrival, the deposit is non-refundable. Because unexpected situations can arise, we strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance to protect your trip investment.

Deposit and Payment
A 50% deposit is required to secure your reservation. The remaining balance is due upon arrival and may be paid by cash, Venmo, or major credit card.

Minimum Stay
Most stays require a minimum number of nights depending on the season. Please refer to our Rates page or contact us for details.

Payment Methods
If there is a remaining balance on your reservation, it may be paid upon arrival by cash, Venmo, or major credit card.

Arrival Information
Please provide your flight information before your arrival so we can estimate your check-in time. If your flight is delayed or your plans change, please call or email us so we know when to expect you.

Breakfast
A complimentary homemade breakfast is included each morning and is served on our shaded veranda surrounded by tropical gardens.

Welcome Drink
Guests are welcomed with a complimentary drink upon arrival.

Wi-Fi
Complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout the property.

Backup Power
For added peace of mind, Garden by the Sea is equipped with a whole-house generator and solar battery system to help keep the lights, air conditioning, and Wi-Fi running during occasional island power outages.

Air Conditioning
All suites are air-conditioned.

In-Room Amenities
Every room is stocked with shampoo, conditioner, soap, and a professional hair dryer.

Televisions
Our suites do not include televisions. Many guests appreciate the opportunity to disconnect and enjoy the peaceful surroundings of St. John, while complimentary Wi-Fi makes it easy to stream on your own devices.

Guest Kitchen
Guests have access to a shared kitchen area equipped with a microwave, full-size refrigerator, and blender. Each guest room has a designated shelf in the refrigerator for storing snacks and beverages. (No cooking.)

Beach Equipment
Beach chairs, beach towels, beach bags, and coolers to enhance and ease your vacation experience.

Housekeeping
To help ensure your privacy and relaxation, we do not provide daily housekeeping service during your stay. If you need fresh towels or anything else to make your stay more enjoyable, just let us know—we’re happy to help.

Laundry
Laundry facilities are not available on the property.

Special Dietary Needs
We’re happy to accommodate special dietary needs with advance notice.

Maximum Occupancy
Most suites comfortably accommodate two guests. Some suites may accommodate an additional guest for an extra fee. Please see individual suite descriptions for details.

Flying to St. Thomas
Most guests arrive by flying into Cyril E. King Airport (STT) on St. Thomas before traveling by ferry to Cruz Bay, St. John.

Getting to the Ferry
After collecting your luggage, proceed to the airport taxi stand and let the dispatcher know which ferry terminal you are traveling to. Shared taxis are readily available and are the most common way to reach the ferry. If you prefer private transportation, we’re happy to recommend local drivers.

Ferry Information
Several passenger ferries operate between St. Thomas and Cruz Bay, St. John. Since schedules and fares may change throughout the year, we recommend checking current ferry information before your trip. View current ferry schedules:

A Jeep is one of the best ways to explore the beautiful beaches, scenic overlooks, hiking trails, and hidden gems of St. John. If available, Garden by the Sea also offers Jeep rentals for guests. Please contact us in advance for availability and details.

Walking to Cruz Bay
Garden by the Sea is conveniently located near Cruz Bay, making it easy to enjoy local restaurants, shopping, and island activities.

Nearby Beaches
Some of St. John’s most beautiful beaches are just a short drive away, including Trunk Bay, Hawksnest Beach, Honeymoon Beach, Maho Bay, and Cinnamon Bay.

Restaurants
Cruz Bay offers a wide variety of restaurants, cafés, beach bars, and waterfront dining. We’re always happy to recommend our favorites.

Things to Do
Whether you’re interested in snorkeling, hiking in Virgin Islands National Park, sailing, kayaking, paddleboarding, shopping, or simply relaxing on the beach, we’re happy to help you plan your perfect island day.

Pool and Snorkeling
While Garden by the Sea does not have a swimming pool, excellent snorkeling is just a short walk down the path from the property.

Adults Only
Garden by the Sea is an adults-only property. Guests must be 18 years of age or older.

Pets
While we love animals, we are unable to accommodate guest pets. Our resident dogs are part of the Garden by the Sea family and help make the property feel like home.

Smoking
A designated outdoor smoking area is available for guests.

Visitors
Guests are welcome to have visitors enjoy the common areas of the property. Overnight guests and use of guest room facilities, including showers, are reserved for registered guests only.

Quiet Enjoyment
Garden by the Sea is known for its peaceful, relaxing atmosphere. We ask all guests to be respectful of one another so everyone can enjoy a quiet and restful stay.

If you discover you’ve left something behind, please contact us as soon as possible. We’ll gladly help reunite you with your belongings whenever possible.
